Phoenix Language Services, Inc. (PLSI), a woman-owned and minority- owned business, has been providing language access services for institutions since 1993. PLSI is a full-service, language services provider (LSP) of spoken (on-site, telephonic and video remote interpreting), American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting, and translation of documentation. We also offer Interpreter Management System™ (IMS™), an online (no hardware installation), cloud-based software. IMS™ allows clients to manage system-wide language access services, real-time communication with in-house and vendor interpreters, and reporting capabilities.
Ruth Karpeles, owner and president, opened Language Services Consultants, Inc. for business in 1992. LSC provides translation, interpreting, proofreading and editing in nearly 100 languages, as well as intercultural training and language assessment testing.
Athena Matilsky holds a BA in Spanish interpreting and translation from Rutgers University. She is a Federally Certified Court Interpreter (SpnEng), a Certified Healthcare Interpreter (SpnEng) and an Approved Court Interpreter (FrnEng). She was the recent editor-in-chief of Proteus (NAJIT’s academic publication), and she served as a staff interpreter for the NJ judiciary from 2013-2016. Currently, she works as a freelance interpreter/translator and trains candidates for the state and federal interpreting exams. She owns her own company, Athena Sky Interpreting, where she coaches students on interpreting technique, and she also frequently collaborates with de la Mora Interpreter Training and Interpretrain. She just received her Master’s in Conference Interpreting degree from Glendon College. When she is not studying or teaching, you may find her practicing Acroyoga.
