About the Delaware Valley Translators Association (DVTA)

DVTA is a regional, not-for-profit (Section 501(c)(6)) association of professional translators, interpreters, linguists, educators, and other individuals interested in these fields. It is a chapter of the national American Translators Association with which it has been associated since the early 1960s. It acts as a regional talent bank for individuals, business and industry seeking assistance with translation and interpretation.

DVTA is dedicated to improving communications among translators and interpreters, and those interested in these fields, as part of an on-going program to promote the highest professional standards. It serves as a clearinghouse for information on literature and new developments concerning translation and interpretation. The association provides a forum for members to hear formal presentations and discuss current topics in the profession.

Membership in DVTA entitles members to attend educational meetings of the association at a reduced rate, when offered.

DVTA Yahoo! Group

As a member of DVTA, you may subscribe to our private group hosted by Yahoo!. On this list, DVTA publishes upcoming events, news, meeting dates, information to translation and interpretation, members queries, and other pertinent articles. Once you have joined and have established a Yahoo! ID, you can post messages and also access the archive with the messages that have been posted since the group was established as well as our membership list and posted photographs.

You can subscribe to the DVTA Yahoo! Group in two ways:

1) Respond to an invitation from the DVTA Membership Chair upon successful processing of your membership application or renewal. Please, give your full name when responding to the invitation so the Membership Chair can approve your subscription request. Members sometimes sign up for our group with an e-mail address different from the one they give for their general contact. This is perfectly OK but in order to approve the subscription request, it helps to have the last name of the requester to make sure that it is from a DVTA member.

2) If you are NOT yet a member of Yahoo and do not have a Yahoo ID, go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/ and register and link your e-mail as instructed on the page. You can then click 'Join a Group' and search for 'DVTA_org.' This will take you to the DVTA group. Click on 'join' and follow the instructions. This group is a private, unmoderated list open to DVTA members only.

Note: You will be able to post messages and access the file section only if you establish or have a Yahoo! ID.
